My name is Cheyenne Harvey, and I am a third year student at the University of Lethbridge. I am currently studying to obtain a combined Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Education, as well as a minor in Math. Though I am studying in Lethbridge, I am actually from a city located an hour and a half southeast called Medicine Hat. It was there that I completed the first two years of my degree.
Originally, I believed myself to be an artist first, and a teacher second. I love the freedom that art gives an individual, whether its freedom of expression, or freedom of mind. Something as simple as the sun coming through the trees, or the casting of shadows from tall buildings inspires me to capture it in my mind, and rework in a way that is unique to me. Art can represent any emotion, whether it be the weight and style of the lines, or the contrast of colours, and so on. And then I got thinking; being able derive meaning from something by creating a visual representation, as well as simply finding a way to express myself when words can't; that's something that needs to be shared. It was thoughts like these that got me started on my journey to becoming a teacher, and now (two years in) I don't think I'd be able to have it any other way.
